Giving a smile to children with a school in Chad

Giving a smile to children with a school in Chad

In Chad one of the pastoral activities to which the Combonians of the Heart of Jesus give themselves with dedication is education. Education is truly at the heart of pastoral care and is one of the priorities of the fourth diocesan pastoral plan of the diocese of Sarh, just published in September 2021, which has a duration of ten years.

As Comboni missionaries working in the diocese of Sarh, precisely in Moïssala, in southern Chad, we believe in educating children for a better future for the village, the parish and the country in general. It is through education that we believe we can change the lives of the poor and have good leaders tomorrow. Without adequate education there is no human development and growth.

For this reason, in Moïssala, we try, in common agreement with the Christian communities, to create community schools with the means available, with the hope of improving the situation in education and, consequently, giving a better future to children. The parish, in fact, is dedicated to this activity because education has been neglected for a long time. There is also the problem of the teachers' strike that leads to a drop in levels and many other problems that paralyze the Chadian educational system. That is why we devote ourselves to the construction of community schools in sheds but now, with the first rains, the schools have stopped and this is due to the lack of school infrastructure.

For this reason we ask all people of good will to help us in the construction of classrooms, providing subsidies for teachers, materials (such as books, solar lighting, etc.) and many other things that will help us to ensure the proper functioning of community schools.

But what matters most for us are the classrooms, so that students can continue to follow the lessons taught by the teachers.

We will be very grateful for any contribution you want to give us to give a smile to the children who deserve to have a chance and we promise our prayers for all our benefactors.

May the Lord bless you abundantly!
